Hi,

I have actually got William John Hoey and Emily Lee's marriage cert..  their not helping me!

Neither of them put their fathers name or profession down.. both totally blank!

They married in 1895,.  I believe your correct they had a daughter in 1897 called Emma Elizabeth..  reckon that's where the confusion with the names have come from..  even though she's not with her mother on the 1901 census?

Going back to info on the marriage cert..is it normal that both parties put NO details of either of their fathers?

And Rosie thx for the GRO info before 1916....I thought you could only get the mums maiden after the 1920's..

Anymore ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated..

Kind Regards..

Thanks Rosie,

Yes, I am aware she got remarried to this Veasey chap.  But trying to find further info on her first husband William J Hoey.

He has become quite elusive.

Regards

Sorry, I assumed you did not have her after 1901 as you only mentioned the Oxfordshire census.

You may be better off starting a separate topic for William Hoey on the Armed Forces boards

Did you get the 1895 marriage certificate from the Brighton archives, or the GRO?

If it's an actual copy of the original, you'll be able to check William's signature against the the Army Service Records.

So frustrating when the GRO rewrite the signatures.
