The postcards look to be printed using the same card, same borders etc, so maybe the photos were taken on the same trip?  :-\

The backs are different though Ruskie...one has a "K" stamp box which is Kodak and the other has no no stamp box so no clue there  ::)
But thanks.

I agree. Could the view be from somewhere like Greenock? I'm sure it had strong naval connections.

Somewhere on the Clyde, perhaps?

That's quite a coincidence as that was OH's suggestion too ...given it's connection to shipping. His other suggestion was Canada...and the AMC Maloja sailed from Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1940.

Thanks Arthur for your response.

Helensburgh might be another option.

I think its Greenock too.  Taken up Lyle Hill/Lyle Road way.  Will try and find a half decent view.

Too many trees to find exactly where it was taken from.  The building in the foreground is on Finnart Street.

Sorry, I can't help with the location of the second photograph, but I can confirm that the first one is of shipping at the "Tail of the Bank" on the Clyde taken from a spot just to the south of the Greenock Esplanade.  The view is to the east of north, and the dark area is the east end of the Rosneath Peninsula, with the Gareloch, and Helensburgh behind it.

Agree with Mosiefish that the building in the foreground is the one at the bend in Finnart Street. (see Streetview).  The photographer was at the park railings at the north side of Lyle Park, directly in line with the above property.
