Another Bury Lad Private Bamford
« on: Friday 07 July 17 11:37 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

We are getting so much interest here in Bury for the fallen soldiers that appeared in the local newspapers at the time. this one is of one of the first Bury casualties of the war who died in 1914. Anyone able to work their magic on this one?

Presumably you have someone chasing up what records they can find on these fine young chaps? (This no doubt being the splendidly named Cornelius)

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Good afternoon,

Have you tried the local newspaper archives, they may have a copy in better condition.

Hi and thank you to everyone who replied. The person I was looking into this for sadly passed away shortly after she asked if anything could be done for the image and I totally forgot to pass on my thanks to everyone.
