Help Gratefully Received!
« on: Friday 07 July 17 16:24 BST (UK) »
I hope some kind person can help me with detail for the following marriage:

Charles Dogherty and Susanna Morton, married 3/2/1846 at Morpeth St Robert. There is only the bare detail of the marriage in Family Search and Find My Past and unfortunately I can find no trace of either in any of the censuses and regrettably the Bishops Transcripts don't cover Morpeth St Robert, so this is my only hope of finding out their parentage.

I live in Edinburgh and can't just pop in and look it up, so if anyone happens to be at Woodhorn or Tyne and Wear Archive I'd be very grateful if you could spare a few moments to help my search.

Thanks.

Andrew Morton

Hi

Refs are . . . . .
Mar 1846 Morpeth 25 331 Dogherty     Charles / Morton     Susanna
Why not order the cert from GRO?

Can I just make a couple of points? :)

Morpeth St Robert is a Roman Catholic Church, so wouldn't appear in the Bishops Transcripts.

There are very few post-1837 (i.e. post-civil registration) marriages to be found in the Durham Bishops Transcripts.

There are a couple of Rootschatters who occasionally go to the archives so you might be lucky  :-\

Ah, that would make sense, I had a sneaking suspicion that they might be Irish hence my lack of luck with the census.

Hopefully someone can help.

I'm doing a one name study and ordering a certificate every time I strike a problem is impractical and expensive! I'm a pensioner so can't throw money at it.  :'(

I haven't been to Woodhorn for a few weeks but hope to be there on Wednesday.  Happy to take a look for you if I make it  ;D

That would be wonderful! I'll look forward to hearing from you. I'm so curious as to Susanna's parentage.

Kind regards,

Andrew
