Harcourt Leonard Hartnett birth!

I am trying to find the birth of Harcourt Leonard Hartnett he was rumoured among his family to have been born in New Zealand or Newcastle, Australia but no records have been found.  I have no idea when he was born?? His daughter Monica was born 1931, Parramatta, Nsw.

If anyone can help that would be great!

His birth might have registered under a different spelling, perhaps.

Are you able to gain access to his Australian Army personnel file? That would no doubt provide an answer

I was told by a member of the family that apparently he lied about his age when he joined the army!

Looking at the NZ Birth Index (@ ancestry), two males with same forenames, different surnames (born 1886 and 1891) ... but both found to have died in New Zealand.

Yes I think he married Violet Graham and died in 1990. But we still don't know where he was born.

If the 1990 death is him you may find more details for him on a Queens honours list if he received an MBE

The NSW marriage certificate should include details of groom's place of birth and age. The registration number for his marriage to Gladys M MISDALL is 406/1924. The marriage to Violet L GRAHAM is 9002/1930. (Transcriptions are cheaper and just as good).

There are quite a few articles on Trove about H L HARTNETT, including this death notice for his first wife:

None of the articles that I could see said anything about where he was born though, so I think a certificate would be the best bet.
