Wow - thank you all for your help! You see this is a tough one isn't it?

I love the enlargement from the still, looking up Weedington - I agree the doorway looks a better bet.

People I have spoken with who lived there don't seem to think there was a bakers anywhere but at the junction of Gilden Road (formally Hanover Street).

However - I think the earlier photo is about 1929 and the people I am talking to are in their 60's/70's.  Things could well have changed.

You are right about the infill handyandy - 15a looks to be added on this map

Finally - proof enough that when the family lived at 108 Carlton Street from1922, that it was probably a bakery - the image in from an 1882 directory.

I notice in 1914 Martin Salzer is a baker in Montpelier St. Walworth.

Yes Jim, I only found that record today too.  I did know he lived there in 1911,and had a bakery there - I have a photo of a bread bag from that shop.  I have never found a photo of that bakery though - or the road.

After 1911, the first I see of him again, is in 1922 at the 108 Carlton Street address.
