Siblings all married?
« on: Sunday 09 July 17 17:08 BST (UK) »
Hi. I've enquired about this family previously (Abel Barrow).

The family is around in 1861 and 1871 but the siblings may all be married by 1881. Mother Isabella Barrow dies in 1893, Leigh.

No sign of her though in 1881 nor 1891....

They were living in Westhoughton in 1871.

Finding difficulty linking possible marriages for Joseph (1852), Robert (1856), Elizabeth (1857) or Jane (1861).

Looks like Joseph has children with a woman called Mary Pearson.

The 1911 census indicates they married c.1886 but I can't seem to find the marriage.

WHITEHOUSE- Bromsgrove, WANE - Eccleston, TOWERS - Blackburn & Ribble Valley, COLLINGE - Rawtenstall, THOMAS - Penzance, Whitehaven, Haslingden.

Joseph was in the army for 12 years from 1874, was in India 1875-1881 (the second afghan war) and was discharged 1886.

You seriously need to look at those service records, I've never seen one with so many disciplinaries on it. There's easily 30 odd. Like flashman. ;D

BashLad. It's interesting because in that census there is another Joseph Barrow,  widower (nephew) whom I'm now trying to link and also John West (nephew). The West family is definitely known by me.

Will look at these Army records - my late father who reached Major - what would he have thought?????

Thank you for finding these!!!

Can you tell me where the records are? The problem is never knowing where to find these records, specifically.
