Cae'r Felin Mill on the river Seiont
« on: Monday 10 July 17 16:58 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I hope if someone can help me. I'm searching for the location of Caer Felin Mill, located somewhere along the Seiont River to no avail so far. The actual mill might not be anymore, but I was told it was mentioned in a book related to mills along the River Seiont.

Regards
Dewi

Hi
The tithe map for Llanbeblig shows a mill on the Afon Seiont called Peblig Mill. A description can be found here http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/418868/details/peblig-mill-caernarfon  Could this be the mill you mean? It seems to be in the Peblig Industrial Park off the Llanbeblig Road.

Hi Dewi

Apologies, but my welsh isn't brilliant since I was born and brought up in England. My knowledge of the area comes from visiting relatives in the past. On the Cynefin site, which has the tithe maps from the 1840's, there are a number of mills shown on the Seiont. Dol Felin is further down river and up river Felin Wen however Peblig Mill is the nearest to Glan Gwna.

Do you know what type of mill it was?
I can't find a mill named Cae'r Felin.Does this translate as "field of the mill?",which sounds an odd name.
On the map below there is a Tyddyn y felin close to a Vaynol mill(corn) and a slate mill? in the top bend of the Seiont.
