I have checked with an elderly cousin
He think it was 1719 ??

At the Hereford cathedral but that church St john parish that the cathedral was used as sounds interesting

She also thought Margaret rawlings was living in the St martins parish of Hereford at the time

Would it not be a lot easier working back from the facts you have of previous generations to arrive at a possible date?

This seems a bit speculative to me?

Can you please give an indication as to how you arrived at such a wide time frame?

Do you have ancestors names/dates/places which lead you to this idea?

One of your previous queries has children born in Whitchurch near Ross on wye, I wonder if the somewhat grand church in Ross could be thought of as a cathedral 200 years ago.

I agree with Annie.

I think many of us have found various inaccuracies in trees compiled by distant relatives. It would probably be best to go back to what you do know to be true and then ask for help from rootschatters to go back further.

On one of my lines I initially did my own research, then discovered several distant relatives who had all come to the same conclusions as myself. However I later discovered that there are numerous trees on the internet which have come to the same wrong conclusions - I am convinced that this is due to others just copying the wrong tree. If I had found the wrong trees before doing my own research I could easily have jumped in and accepted the finds especially as there are so many people who have trees on the internet containing this wrong information. I'm so glad I didn't. 

I know others have similar stories.

Especially in your example, with no exact places and dates, this would ring alarm bells with me.

Good luck Phil. Depending on what is online in the date range you are researching, you may be able to get some help with this here rather than going to Hereford. Sometimes it's good to get a second opinion that you are on the right track.
