I'll have to get into the library and get the 1939 register for them, that might show the two children I have names of (I didn't post them as I'm not sure if they are still around and I know that's not allowed).

It really is well worth trying to use the free search of the 1939 register in a creative way to find out who else might be in the household   ;)

Go to the main search page http://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-Records/1939-register and leave everything blank except for
1) Borough/District - enter Berwick on Tweed
2) Other household member - enter Robert Beasley

The result will tell you who else is in the same household as Robert, apart from 'closed entries'.

Also, search freeBMD for Beazley births and you will find one possibility  :) I'll leave you to discover that for yourself  ;)

There are several references in the local newspapers to a Robert Beasley, in court for various offences relating to illegal fishing, both in the River Tweed and at sea  :o

In a 1951 article he is described as a salmon fisherman of Ravensdowne, Berwick.

Going back to the free 1939 search and using the occupation 'salmon fisherman' and address Ravensdowne confirms it's the same person that we found earlier.

Thanks for the help everyone, this is all really really interesting.

I have got FindMyPast for the month so I'll get on that and see if I can find the articles about him fishing, I'm sure they will make interesting reading.

One snippet I saw in the newspapers was:
Berwickshire News and General Advertiser
31 July 1923

A stray pigeon, marked S.U.R.P.F. 1055, has been found by Mr Robert Beasley, 30 Ravensdowne, Berwick

Being of a nosey nature, I googled the address and came up with this which may be of interest

Its now apparently a (derelict) Grade II listed building

and this site has some good info
http://www.berwickfriends.org.uk/record-office/projects/our-families/ravensdowne/30-ravensdowne/

From that it looks like Caroline Amelia married a second time, the marriage (with both her maiden name and previous married name recorded) is on Scotland People

Also, search freeBMD for Beazley births and you will find one possibility  :) I'll leave you to discover that for yourself  ;)

JenB I've had a look, are we talking about Henry C Beazley?

Morning Boo,

I have also found that story in the summary but when I've downloaded it (it gave me page 7 of the paper) I can't find the story at all. Was it on page 7?
