Naturalisation in New Zealand in the 1880s.

Does the Archives have copies of the applications for naturalisation in 1880? I have found the letters of naturalisation issued, and we have the person's origin and date of naturalisation from the index.

Thanks for that, Lu - what I want to know is if the file referenced for the person is available - it should have the date of his arrival in New Zealand. I have attached a snip of his details from the document in your link. The file reference is 20/4/178 1880/1223 & 2256.

FWIW my experience is that these files still exist and I have a copy of one or two now.
