If it is from the 1911 then the census occupation code 701 is for Iron Mongers; Hardware - Dealers, Merchants

IT seems that that is all we have ever been to gov. is nos on a sheet of paper. :) :)

  Those of us of a certain age will remember the old ironmonger's shop. They stocked thousands of items and seemed to know exactly what you wanted and where to find it, "round the back". I'm sure that an apprentice ironmonger would also learn to reckon-up the bill in his head whilst wrapping up six-inch nails, ball-bearings and a thing for tightening up the whatsit. Do they still exist?

You don't need to be of a certain age, we had one like that near us until a few years ago  ;D

We still have one, although for how much longer is in doubt, it is up for sale as the owner is retiring.
