Wilhelm Karl Willee (sp) born Alsace.

I am trying to help a friend with her family history, but have  very little info on her grandfather Wilhelm Karl Willee, born about 1882, Alsace.   Which registration area (s) should I be looking for when looking for his baptism?

Unfortunately it is very difficult to search with only "Alsace" as a birthplace - this now covers two departments (Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin) with a great number of communes and it is not easy to search without knowing an exact place  - there is no equivalent of freebmd.

The name Willee does not appear on http://www.geopatronyme.com/ which maps French births from 1891 onwards.  Perhaps Wille or similar?

What else do you know about Wilhelm Karl Willee?

Thanks for the reply.

Only know he was German. Can't find him on 1911 census, nor can I find a marriage to the lady with whom he had three children between  1912 and 1916, in Bootle, Liverpool, Lancashire.

In 1911 this lady was a widow,  Nora Anderson, with two children and her mother, living Bootle, Liverpool.

Rumours that he died c 1917, but not known where, certainly not in this area.

Not much to go on unfortunately

The marriage of Nora Rebecca Barton and Karl Anderson was registered in Q2 1905 in West Derby reg. district.

The death of a 33-year-old Karl Anderson was registered in Salford in 1909.

Does your friend have a birth cert for either of Nora's two surviving children?

How do you know that Wilhelm Karl was in Alsace in about 1882?

Thanks for the reply; my friend does have the details of Nora's first marriage to Karl Anderson - it is the second "marriage" that we can't find.

The date of Wilhelm Karl Willee's birth is a guess; Norah was born 1886.

Yes, That as one of W.K.W. senior's sons , details of which we have found.

Do you have any idea of Wilhelm's occupation?
