Can anyone help me read the following document? I see has had syphilis and pneumonia but thats it!

[struggling here as I'm not a medic] Probably result of infection 1896. Prim[ary] syph[ilis] (see M.H. sheet). Hg inunction and Iodid Potass. in increasing doses. Proposed as invalid. Remanded for further treatment. B. O. of Board.[signature - A R Boot?] Lieut RAMC

I think the 2nd entry in the "Disease" column says Idem.
Meaning: the same as mentioned previously?
