It is a bit of a tangle  ;D

For what it's worth, I do think the 3 Charlies:

1) Marrying 1925
2) Marrying 1929
3) Death 1954

...are the same person - but so far evidence is all circumstantial, as you haven't got that one link that ties  even two of them together, let alone all three  :(

The 1954 death has the wrong birthdate, but that could be down to whoever informed? and can't see a SSI entry either.

Also your Charlie in 1930 Census, didn't allude to an earlier marriage (ie: he didn't say he was first ever married at age 16).

I wonder if trying to trace a descendant or relative Clifford would be in order? Try perhaps the person who 'owns' this recent web page, and who appears to be from Clifford's mother's side:

I have discovered who I think is Charlie and Effie's youngest daughter, still living in TX.  I'm going to contact her.  I contacted the lady who entered the info about Johnnie Cantrell being married to Charlie, but she had no further info on Charlie.  Thanks so much for all your help.

How exciting !

You're going along there in leaps & bounds and good luck going forward.  Did the lady you contacted know for sure that the Charles died 1954 was the same man who had married Jonnie CANTRELL in 1925?

Do let us know the outcomes if you can, always keen to hear the follow up story on these mystery topics. As equally intrigued regards Pearl MILLER? JEFFRIES as well as Charles  ;D

I erred when I said I had contacted the lady who entered the info on Charlie and Johnnie Cantrell.  It was the person who had entered info on Charlie and his second wife Effie Cole.  She said she knew nothing else about Charlie.

I'll post something after I contact the daughter.
