Am looking for a birth c1930's for a Violet Anne Gillyland or Gilliland or variant spelling of surname presumably in Londonderry N Ireland; any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

The surname is likely to be Gilliland. Privacy restrictions in Northern Ireland (as on Rootschat) will make it difficult to find birth details. Online birth certificates (Irish Genealogy) less than 100 years old are not shown, GRONI's online index only shows births 100+ years and Family Search's online civil registration index only goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

40yrs ago she would have been around 40yrs old.  As she was married you presumably know her married name so need to look for a possible death under that surname.  She could still be alive though

Birth records for someone born in Northern Ireland around 1936 aren’t on-line. But they are still open to the public to search. To search for them you need to either go in person to GRONI or PRONI in Belfast (where you can search the records free), or if you can’t get to Belfast, ring or e-mail GRONI and pay them to search for you.

Don’t post the results here, unless you are certain the lady is dead.
