Where is Heytesbury?
« on: Thursday 13 July 17 22:44 BST (UK) »
Good evening, I am new to this area as I live in the North West of England in Chester and I have found someone who is from Heytesbury, Wiltshire.  His name is Euclid Eular Eugene Muspratt born 1851 in Heytesbury, he died in Chester at the Blue Coat School Yard n 1934 he married Maria Catherall in 1880  If anyone can help me as to why he has this name or any information I would be extremely grateful.
Kind regards
Heather

According to his birth ( I wouldn't think there were two of that name) he was born in London

Euclid Euler Eugene Muspratt
1851 Jan-Feb-Mar
Pancras London
Volume:   1
Page:   298

The censuses also give London as POB

On the 1841 Census there is an Edward Muspratt age circa 18 years living with his (assumed) family in High Street, Heytesbury, Wiltshire. It comes under Warminster RD.

There is a Lucy Mary Muspratt with mother Hurdle registered Dec 1853 Holborn 1b 389

A possible death for Jane Muspratt Mar 1854 Warminster 5a 125 age 31.

So if Euclid was born in 1851, then Lucy 1853, then they moved out to Heytsebury where their mother died, then it's probably the only home he knows and assumed he was "from" there.

And in answer to your question "Where is Heytsebury?"  It's on the A36 about half way between Bath and  Salisbury. https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Heytesbury,+Warminster,+UK/@51.2246687,-2.2378843,11z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x4873d08a0620dc73:0xe0fa7407c15fc10f!8m2!3d51.1825471!4d-2.1046695

Thank you all for your kind responses this has helped me a lot. Just to let you know that Euclid Eular Eugene Muspratt died in Chester at the Alms Houses at the Blue Coat School 1934.  I have his obituary and according to it his father Edward Muspratt built Eaton Hall, where the late Duke lived, don't know if that's true but who knows.

Once again thank you
Regards
Heather :)
