Pomphrey,is a name in my mother`s family, not common but not really rare,  Pumfrey is also not common ,but also  not so rare.
I too think it is A.Pumfrey.Viktoria.

There were five A PUMFREYs in Sussex in the 1939 Register.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

I wish I could look at the back of this photo! but it's been glued into an album so I'd probably ruin the picture if I tried to pull it off.

I can't seem to find anything relating to the person who has signed it. I was just curious as to why it was there or maybe it was something to do with the person who took the picture. It's probably not that important and i'm probably looking into it a little too much  ??? lol

Thanks for the help though guys

It's of my Great Grandfather. His name was John Richard Scrace born 1905 in Brighton, Sussex.

This might be a silly question, but are you absolutely sure that this particular photo is of your ggf John Richard Scrace?

Glad you mentioned that Sami as I didn't want to.....

It looks like an autograph of 'a/the' person in the photo which would be distributed  ???

I really think it would be unusual for any photographer to sign his name so blatantly obvious on any photo?
Usually the photographer's name is a bit less prominent.

However, I would also doubt anyone would sign their surname (only) i.e. my belief is that it is a forename initial followed by a surname?

I think it begins with 'A' then the surname but the writing is very artistic & the formation seems to have been a continuation as the 'P' or 'D' has not been started separately  ???  ::)
