I'm in search of the Peers family of Liverpool
« on: Friday 14 July 17 14:06 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I'm searching the Peers family of Liverpool. My Nana Lilian Askew nee Peers was born in 1919, living at 36 Dodge Street Liverpool, she was the seventh child to be born to a Thomas Peers and Mary (Bridget) Summers - she was Thomas's second wife. His first wife was Amy Lynch, whom they had three children together, a son Walter and a daughter Mary. The last child, the baby, Amy passed away after their mother had died during child birth. So Thomas brought his two children up with his second wife and four more children. It's a mystery with their names, being a mix up and not sure about the rest, would love to know whom were my ancestors, my great grandparents and others above them, can't wait to get to know more please and thanks.

Perhaps only one of them was a Catholic and so they married in both churches.

If one of them was a lapsed RC, then catholic priests in Liverpool then took their responsibility to reclaim their lost souls back to the flock vey very seriously, and were very persuasive.

Hi, the name Bridget came from was a person at the Hull Library, a genealogy, to help me with my research but he said their was no name as Mary Summers to a father Lawrence, but of a Bridget. So I've always known this might be right, not so sure now, many people who have tried to help with this family tree of mine have sent me on a wild goose chase and false hopes. Never mind, I hope I can find the missing links soon, thank you for your help, I've got photos of this Mary Peers nee Summers.

Apparently Mary was the one who was a stern Catholic, cos her daughter, my nana had to be brought up as a Catholic and my mum, too, but both gave up in the end. My great grandma was very strict as well and her husband, Thomas Peers, the father to my nana, had died on the 6th Feb 1932 @ 55, he was born in 1876 Liverpool, the marriage 5th Feb 1911.
Mary had died on the 13th Feb 1963 @ 86 Liverpool...maybe her date of birth might be wrong here but it states it as the 10th April 1876, Liverpool. That's all I've got!
