Jane Ann Gill b.1902 Wakefield
« on: Saturday 15 July 17 08:20 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for any information about Jane Ann Gill, known later as Ginnie.
She was born in Wakefield in 1902, christened in 1903. Her parents were Nathan Gill and Charlotte (nee Lister). She had 4 sisters and a brother.
Ginnie had a daughter, probably illegitimate, and died in childbirth, year not known.
This daughter, name not known, may have been adopted by a couple called John and Ivy Ingham, family friends.
The daughter married a cobbler and lived in one of the small mining villages in Yorkshire in the 1950's.
Very little to go on, I realise, but any help would be most welcome.
Thank you, Tess

Thanks, both of you. That looks very promising.

Just been using your data to complete the picture. I found the daughter was called Jean, who went on to marry a Frank Whiteley.
Thanks again for your help

I hope it's all cleared up now. Perhaps the extended family helped raise her until her father remarried and that's how the misunderstanding arose.

Heywood

Hi Heywood,
Yes, I've been in touch with my friend who is the cousin of Ginnie's daughter, Jean. Although he had met her a couple of times, it was a long time ago and he couldn't remember her name. He had no idea that John Ingham was actually her father. He is very happy that the mystery is now cleared up.
Thanks again for your help
