Missing marriage
« on: Saturday 15 July 17 15:34 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I am wondering if someone may be able to help me? I am trying to find a marriage between George Jepson and Charlotte Merritt nee Davis in the 1860s probably in Herefordshire.

Charlotte was married to John Merritt in 1861 Ledbury Hereford. He must have died sometime before 1871 where Charlotte is married to George Jepson, with children born from 1868. Its possible the that some of the children born before 1871 are Georges from a previous marriage.
George died in 1882 and Charlotte remarried to Thomas Morley under the name of Charlotte Merritt Jepson (Father Charles Langford - bought up thinking James Davis was her father).

I cant find Charlotte and Georges marriage. Can someone help me find their marriage?

Thanks in advance,
To

Ohhhh so Thomas isnt one of Georges! Thomas is baptised as Thomas Jepson in 1878 (it does give his birth date as 1868). This certainly narrows it down! Thanks for the help!

Thank you! There is an Eliza Jepson in the 1871 census born 1865. This must mean George was married before. Have you got access to records to see what her mothers maiden name was? She was born in Birmingham.

You can access the records showing mmn (and age at death) on the GRO website
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
You just need to register if you have not already bought certificates through it.

I won't be surprised if John was not dead before 1871 and that she never married George Jepson  ???
