Email hacking help, please!
« on: Saturday 15 July 17 17:14 BST (UK) »
If ....

I get a message from someone with an email address showing as, say, somebodyorother@something.com (I've made that up), and I hit reply, type my message and press send ...

How come when I check in my sent folder, it says I've sent it to somebodyorother@outlook.com ?

How can that happen, please?

Thanks

Thanks.

This person says their email has been hacked to divert them to ....@outlook.com.

I've checked the From thingy and it says

from ....@something.com

reply to ...@outlook.com

How can I ensure that I reply to ...@something.com then, please?

Click "Reply", delete the original destination, enter the email address you want. Or select "Forward" and enter the email destination you want.

Some email clients such as Thunderbird allow you to select a different "Reply To" email address which may be different from the one the email arrives from.

Not sure if that can be achieved using webmail.

Thanks peeps.

Have deleted the ...@outlook.com from my contacts and will have to try to remember not to just click Reply when I send him a message back.

Thanks again :)

Is there anything he can do to change the 'reply to' bit back to  .. @something.com ?
