Scarva
« on: Sunday 16 July 17 10:19 BST (UK) »
Hi. My great aunt was evacuated to Scarva during the war and always reminisces about how she loved living there.
Unfortunately she is now in a nursing home, but still talks about Scarva, especially mentioning 2 best friends called Billy and Jackie. One was the nephew of the village grocer and one worked at the train station. She believes both were killed in a house fire while refurbishing it, and are buried side by side in Scarva. She still gets very upset at this.
The family are curious if anyone knows about these men. Because her memory isn't as it was, we don't know when they died, but assume it wasn't long after the war.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you or someone you know is on Facebook, there are pages for Scarva Tea Rooms and the local primary school. It's a pity the schools are almost on holidays as it would have been a good project for them to involve the kids in. Still, it might be worth a message to them.

Northern Ireland schools usually finish by the end of June so I suspect that the primary school will have started their summer holiday last month.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
