He definitely married a Mary Sullivan in I believe 1875 ( will have to check marriage certificates) but he claimed to be a widower when he married my great grandmother Mary Williams in 1884 also in St George Hanover Square.

I haven't found a death certificate for his first wife so it must be after 1875 and before 1884.

I don't think there any children from his first marriage although of course its possible. All the children I have listed are from his second marriage to Mary Williams

I'm looking for the birth year of Ellen Mary Ashman. Her parents were George Ashman and Hannah Harrington.

You need to look at George ASHMAN's army pension record.  Ellen Mary was born 3 Jan 1911 and was illegitimate ....

This birth is only indexed once under MILLGROVE so was probably registered in a manner which suggested that the named parents were married.  You would need to see the certificate.

Finally received Ellen's birth certificate today.
She was born January 1911 at 77 Griffin Street Deptford to Hannah Mary Millgrove (formally Harrington) and Frederick Millgrove , fish porter.

H Millgrove, mother, was the informant.

As far as I know Hannah wasn't married to Frederick Millgrove and she married George Ashman several years later

Millgrove seems to be a rather rare surname, and although there are plenty of other BMD occurrences of it I cannot see any sign of a Frederick at any time (and no other Millgroves in Greenwich)

NB there are a couple of Frederic(k)s (father and son) in Newington, Surrey in 1861 whose surname is transcribed in some places as Millgrove, but on closer inspection and corroboration with other records it was actually Snellgrove.

Me neither. Nor is there any sign of him on the 1911 census. There is a Hannah Harrington, servant, in Hampstead but no Hannah Milgrove or Millgrove in Deptford or Greenwich
