Here are Britta and Sven Gustaf listed together before Emma was born.  This means they worked at the same place or farm, correct?

Hi Ian:

I am putting my Bjorklund (their name in the US) book together.  I pretty much have all of my research done.  For certain records that are very important, I might want you to translate all of the words for me.  For instance, #22 birth record for Carl Severus:

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v56035.b65&page=main/index

I know he was born on 5 Sept 1868 in Norra Åsarp, Älvsborg and baptized on 7 September.  I know his parents were Magnus Josefsson and Christina Andersdotter (she was 28 years old).

Can you tell me what it says in the 2nd column, to the right of Carl Severus?  Also, on the far right, I believe the godparents are listed with possibly some other info.  Can you let me know what it says?

Carl is my great grandfather (my mother's father's father).

Thanks,  Paul

Hi Paul

Pretty difficult to decypher.

Torparebarn från ?solnarp.

Skolläraren Herr A. Criesberg
och Britta Stina Svensd
Herr Wensels i Kölabyg
och Amanda Sofia Johsd

"Croftowner child from ?solnarp

School teacher Mr. A. Criesberg
and Britta Stina Svensdotter
Mr. Wensels at Kölaby Farm
and Amanda Sofia Johansdotter"

They were living in Prestegården at the time so not too sure where ?solnarp is or what it says either.

Thanks, Ian.  That helps.  I realize some of the writing is not very clear. But still it gives me more to include in my book.

Hi Ian:

Here is a marriage record from January 1788 in Tranemo for Johannes Magnusson and Kjerstin Persdr:

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v14962.b24.s19&page=main/index

Can you tell me what Johannes did for his occupation?  I assume farmer.  Also, can you make out where they lived?  The household examination books don't start until 1795 for Tranemo.

I believe I found them in 1803:

Can you tell me any info?  Something about Sternebo?

Thanks,  Paul

Hi
According to the marriage record Johannes was a farmhand (Dräng). He is recorded as coming from Hjerpesbo (Järpesbo) and Kierstin was from Ödegården.

According to the Household record from 1803 he is an "Åbo"...... a person who works the land for a nobleman or clergyman.

The Household record from 1803 states that the family left for Stjernebo in 1808.

This could be Johannes Magnusson's birth at Hjerpesbo: Tranemo C:6 (1765-1786) Bild 8 / sid 4

Hope this helps.

Hi Ian:

Yes it does!!  Thanks for your help and the extra information.

I have one more....a wedding record of Magnus Josefsson and Christina Andersdotter in November 1867 (#8 record on the left):

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v56043.b47&page=main/index

I believe we talked about this one a few months ago, but I want to be sure as I am up to this part in writing my book.  Were they married at Solberga church, or were just the banns listed there?  I need to know for sure if they were married there or in Kölaby, and in what parish church the ceremony took place.

Thanks again for all your help.  I'm almost done with my book....hoping to finish it by Christmas.

Paul
