Back to Johannes Magnusson born 1765...I had found the same birth record you mentioned:

"This could be Johannes Magnusson's birth at Hjerpesbo: Tranemo C:6 (1765-1786) Bild 8 / sid 4"

I have on my tree that he was born 8 Aug 1765 and baptized 11 Aug 1765.  Can you tell his parents' names?  I had Magnus Andersson and Brita Andersdotter, but now looking at the birth record, I'm not sure.  It is very hard for me to read.  I see "Johannes Månsson" on the right side, and possibly Magnus and Brita on the left side.  Can you clarify this for me?

Looking on the right hand side, it does say Johannes Månsson in Jerpisbo so this does seem to be Johannes Magnusson, but the surname Månsson is a bit misleading. It could be a mistake.

Hi Ian:

Thanks for helping me with this.  I had Kjerstin's correct birth record.  I had also seen different variations in the books for Johannes' last name as Magnusson, Månsson, and even Magnison.

I know we have the right person as his youngest child, Joseph (Josef), is my 3rd great grandfather.

So just to be sure....the parents of Johannes Magnusson (1765-1825) were Magnus Andersson (1722-1766) and Britta Andersdotter (1731-1804), correct?  And, is there any way to go back a generation or two?  The writing is very scribbly for me to read, and I don't know how far back the books in Tranemo go.

Not really.  I thought he was born 1 November 1722, possibly in Tranemo.

It would be the last entry on the bottom right.  Can you make out the name?  Or maybe on the following page?  I was hoping his parents' names would be mentioned.
