To clarify William Arnell and Mary Garner, the marriage took place at Swingfield and not Westbere.  This is one of the problems associated with Family Search Films.  I know of at least one thread on RootsChat where this duplication has been discussed!

For information Mary Garner was of Swingfield and William Arnell was from Hawkinge.  Their son William was baptised at Swingfield, in 1781.

Now to the problem ref deciding on the right parents.  It is not easy unless there is some very good evidence such as a maiden name being used as a given name.  However, searching for such (or some other substansive detail) is quite arduous.

All I can say, on a quick look, is that the William Arnold born 1784 at St Peter, Sandwich appears to marry Mary Ansell (at St Clement) in 1808.  I base this on one small piece of evidence that, William had a younger sister Margaret and one of the witnesses (at his marriage) was a Margaret Arnold.  In no way definitive, but does indicate the possibility.

Not a great help I am afraid.

Tony

But if William was bc.1773 (as shown on burial) surely the 1779 and 1781 baptisms can't be him.

He married in Sandwich, died in Sandwich, and there's a baptism in Sandwich for the right timeframe so would seem logical to me that he is indeed the William bp.1774, son of Richard and Cate.

Yes Annette I believe your right, I have found the same information. I believe also that i have found there children William George John and Richard all born in sandwich.

I think i may have found a babtism for Richard senior at Lyminge 12th of April 1755 and his mother shows as Elizabeth Arnold father John Arnold

and also a death for Richard 11 August 1816 in Kent.

Your thoughts on the above info greatly appreciated to see if I am on the right track.

Is your family the Arnold's of Chislet?  If so, there are two further baptisms in that Parish to William and Sarah as,

1816 Mar 3 Mary Anne d/o William & Sarah Arnold - Farmer.
1818 May 31 Sarah Elisabeth d/o William & Sarah Arnold - Farmer.

William buried at Chislet as,

1827 Nov 13 William Arnold - aged 44.

Sarah survived much longer and was buried at Chislet as,

1865 Aug 17 Sarah Arnold - aged 84 - from St Alphege, Canterbury.

Thanks so much Tony, I have the same information and its nice that you have confirmed that as well.

I did not however have the daughter Sarah Elisabeth 1818.

I have now found William (1774) parents Richard Arnold (1755) from Lyminge and Catherine Sayer.

Also William had Richard (1776) John (1778) and George (1780) all from Lyminge.

Catherine is spelt with a K on the certificate.

Now I am looking for any details I can for Richard Arnold and Catherine

Also I believe I may have found Richards Parents and his brothers and sisters, but im trying to confirm this

Parents John Arnold and Elisabeth Beer (Note the spelling of her name with an s) married 27th March 1749

Children

Richard  Arnold baptised 12.04.1755
Mary Arnold baptised 19.04.1760
Elisabeth Arnold baptised 26.06.1757
John Arnold baptised 22.03.1753

All baptised in Lyminge

Sadly there is a burial  John Arnold 13.12.1761 at Lyminge Father John Mother Elizabeth. If this is one of the above children, then he would have been about 8 years old.

Is there anyway of finding out how he died?
