1844 Scottish will of Clergyman
« on: Sunday 16 July 17 22:08 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I have had a will for some time that the solicitors writing is beyond me, it is 13 pages and
is the will of Rev'd Dr David Ritchie, professor of logic at the university of Edinburgh.

My question is would someone that enjoys to decipher such wills be interested in having a go
at cracking this one, I understand it is a lengthy will and not for the faint hearted, but I would be
most appreciative of any and all help.

Thank you.

Why don't you post the start of it on here - say the first paragraph, and we'll see what it looks like!
I'm sure somebody will help.  :)

It's always useful to include words you know & in the same format/sequence as the written doc. so it's easy to follow line by line.

A start:

At Edinburgh the twentieth day of July Eighteen
hundred & forty four years the following
Inventory of [?] [?] of Dr David
Ritchie & [?] [?] in the disposal thereof
were presented by Mr Andrew [Hosie?] writer to the
[?]

The missing words appear to me to reference standard forms or notices, so their names may be more familiar to those expert in the peculiar ways of the Scots.
