Sarah Ann Nicholas 1851 census completed thanks
« on: Monday 17 July 17 11:06 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone
I'm trying to find Sarah Ann in the 1851 census, she should be in the London area or surrounding districts but she is hiding.
I have her birth and baptism in 1842 she was baptised at St Marylebone on 24 th of May
Parents John and Ann fathers occupation a painter.
She got married 3/7/1859 to Samuel Austen at St Alphege Greenwich, both of these documents can be viewed on Ancestry. Father occupation still listed as a painter.
I have her in the 1861 census onwards but cannot locate her and her parents in the 1851 census.
I would appreciate some assistance with finding her.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

I think that maybe the baptism has got confused with this one,

Baptism Place:  Workhouse Chapel, St Marylebone
Sarah Ann
Birth Date:  14 May 1842
Baptism Date:  24 May 1842
Father:  George NICHOLS,  Purser
Mother:  Mary Ann WRIGHT

The one that seems to fit Sarah's marriage cert. and her place of birth in the later censuses is this one,

Saint Dunstan's, Stepney
Baptism Date:  10 Jul 1842
Sarah Ann
Parents:  John & Ann  NICHOLAS
Abode:  Ratcliff
Painter

I think this is her with her family in 1851, mistranscribed at Ancestry as McKolas and at FindMyPast it is NICKOLAS which is how it looks on the image.

Ann was married to a John in 1841,
