Kent Assizes & Land Records
« on: Monday 17 July 17 11:19 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if there are and where they are held, records for the Kent Assizes? Im looking for Court Records for Robert Mason tried 11 March 1833 for Forgery and sent to Australian on board the Henry Tanner for life.

Originally born (Illegitimate) to Sarah Mason in Great Yarmouth arrived in Greenwich around 1830 to work as a Journeyman Carpenter for Mr Mason (Cant find yet if they are related). He was constructing some houses at the time of his conviction. His family petitioned for years for have him return to England, amongst these records it states his Aunt held title deeds at the same time. Im trying to find who his Aunt was.

Does anyone know if there are any surviving records of title deeds or land records?

Thanks

- The  KHLC holds  some calendars  of  prisoners  tried  at  the assize courts (see Q/SB and P/CM catalogues)
