Hi Carole,
I've been trying to send you a pm, but I keep getting error messages telling me to try later. You may end up with 6 or 0!

Andrea

I received your message, thank you!

Fascinating, too the fact you have photo's of your Gt Grandmother.

I am not as fortunate, and have none of my Surkis ancestor(s).  My tree on Ancestry currently has no record of your descending line - as yet, as I hadn't got around to delving into the possible Circus spelling.  A quick look on freeBMD though, has revealed lots of Circus's from the Caxton/St Ives areas.

Can I take it that you originate from Needingworth, yourself?

Ah good. I hope you don't get several versions as I hit 'send' several times as it kept saying there was a problem...

Yes, I was born in Needingworth and lived there up until pretty recently. I still go back a lot as I have many friends and family in the area.

I had a quick check of my records last night and, as mentioned, although I have recorded as Circus, most of the source records (pallot's marriage index etc) have various spellings around Surkis/Surkiss/Cirkis/Circus so pretty sure they are all connected!

When I get chance to look properly, I'll see if I have anything else that may be of use.

I was talking to my mum tonight and it turns out I have a photo of my Great Great Grandparents John and Sarah Circus too! It is a group photo and my mum wrote on the back many years ago. She has named her Great Grandfather John Cirkiss, (so even she spelled it differently!), and her Great Aunts Sarah and Emma (both nee Cirkiss) as well as her Gran and Grandad (My Great Granparents Alfred and Eliza). It also has my other Great Great Grandmother Ann Tabbitt on too, so it is quite a find!

WOW!  That's fascinating, Andrea!

If you get the chance, have a look at my public tree over on Ancestry.  It shows my line of the Surkis's.  I must make time to research your Circus's, too and add them on.

I'll pm you my email address.

Bye for now.  Carole

Thanks Carole,

That would be great. I'm not sure how to find your tree on Ancestry?

I have just emailed you.

Have a great weekend.
