If someone died in prison?

If a person died in prison, would his death have been registered in the normal manner, ie quoting his full name?

Yes but second names were often just shown as the initial (ie) William John Smith could be transcribed  on freebmd etc as William J Smith

Online deaths only cover to 2007 and although there are some from 2008 they are not representative of all deaths
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Thanks for confirming that.   I don't think he died in prison, but just wondered in case he did.
