Help with Gramps (or alternatives) please
« on: Wednesday 19 July 17 15:29 BST (UK) »
I've installed Gramps on an elderly 32 bit ex Win7 netbook that's now running linux mint, but every time I try to generate a chart it throws a wobbly - "gramps has experienced an unexpected error".  If it was Windows I'd know how to repair an installation, or else uninstall and reinstall, but with linux I haven't a clue.

I want to be able to view my tree in its entirety (not just the edited version that I have online) when I visit record offices.  I don't need to be able to update it, just view it.  I'm not attached to Gramps - if there's anything else out there that comes recommended I'll give it a go - just looking for a way forward that doesn't include spending money on replacement technology.

So a two-fold question:
  • how do I repair/uninstall
  • can anyone recommend an alternative

Jane :-)
