A baptism (FindMyPast England Roman Catholic Parish baptisms) by a Jesuit priest at Horeferry Road 1st April 1891 may be for my great grandmother Jeannetta Wilson whose origins pre aged 18 have been a mystery for 18 years. She became an "honest woman", marrying very belatedly in 1893 then died of TB 1896. Reputed by her grandson to have been a "raging catholic" (?convert?), I need help with reading the Latin and being sure of its meaning. It appears to say "ab heresi excepta. sub cond." "Sub cond" is often used in cases where there is no certainty of a previous baptism. Following the birth of an illegitimate child called Moxon in 1879, She married Thos Stapley at CofE St George Hanover Square as Moxon (a lie) in 1880, was widowed in 1884, immediately began to live "in sin" with my great grandfather Frank Wilson from 1884  and baptised her 6 children at CofE churches in Marylebone and Kilburn. Does "ab heresi excepta" - if that is what it says - mean something like "allowed because she has been a heretic" ?
Have I finally found my great great grandparents?
PS after all that, I can't find them anywhere!
Hopeful Jacqueline

"ab heresi excepta" - I'd translate this as "received from heresy".

Missing child Emily Rose b& d 1894. Yes William Henry Moxon b illegit 1879, - she claimed to be Mrs Moxon, formerly Jones but she did not marry William's father also Wm Hy Moxon. Married following yr as Moxon d/o JAMES Moxon. But 1881 census suggests young Wm Hy Moxon was unhappy surprise for Thos Staples 2 yr old child "occupation illegitimate". So chm: Wm Hy Moxon, Chas Thos Staples Frank, Jeanette 1888, Ernest Robert, '91, Emily Rose 1894. Father's name at remarriage William Moxon. She forgot what she said in 1880 by 1893!

That should have read "wanted her to go to live with her in Ireland c 1906". The plot thickens ....
