Thanks everyone. I am still interested in the Mountstevens side if anybody knows anything about Blanche or her family.  I have tried to find her in findmypast but struggling to find her before 1901.

Albert Strange Stevens does not appear to be right as he is in HMP in 1911 so cannot be the right Albert unfortunately, as he has been found in 1911.

From FindMyPast

Baptism: Blanche Mountstevens in St John's  Bridgwater-Blanche Mountstevens 7 Feb 1864. Father is John-a labourer, mother is Emma-residence, Dunwear.

Blanche is with them and her 8 siblings in Bridgwater in 1871. (Father John was born in the village I live in!)

Thanks for the information.  I cannot find anything about them on findmypast.  Would it be possible to give me their names and dates of births please.

Ages on the 1871 census are totally up the pole:   The children of John and Emma nee Kerle are:

Walter birth reg;d Mar.1851 Bridgwater
James birth reg;d Sept.1852    "
Charlotte birth reg'd Sept.1854  "
Abel birth reg'd June 1856        "
Richard birth reg'd June 1859   "
Rose birth reg'd Sept.1861       "
Blanch birth reg'd Mar.1864      "
Harry Edward John reg'd Mar.1866
Minnie birth reg'd Dec.1867

GRO Index shows mmn Kerle except mistranscriptions for Blanch (as Harle) and Minnie (as Kirle).
