No - the last record I have for him is the 1889 larceny charge in Melbourne.  This would have been the year following his marriage to Emma Jane.

Thanks so much for that very entertaining info Lucy2.  I knew of the charges but had never seen the media reports, nor did I know that brother Charles had been implicated.

Charles died in Porirua (probably the mental hospital there)  in 1936.

Yes, that is correct John. I have a copy of that birth cert which incorrectly lists her mother as married to Wilkes.

Just incidentally, who was the witness to (or the person registering) the birth of Ellen WILKES in 1885 ??
