Stephen CORNER 12.3.1907 to 4.8.1972

My fatherwas born in Hetton Le Hole and later moved to East Molesey Surrey. He left Hetton between 1938 and 1942 when he married my mother ( Amelia Heap ) in 1942 in East Molesey. I would like to find more information about him from 1907 to 1938 and in particular 1938 to 1942. I cannot find entries for either of them in the 1939 General Register.

Have you found him in the electoral register in 1939?

Surrey registers for that time period are on Ancestry.

I cannot find my father or mother in the East Molesy Electoral Roll registers until the 1945 register at 5 Spring Gardens East Molesey.They were married in East Molesey on 24th December 1942. My father left Hetton in 1938 to 1939 see extract from Durham Records Search.

n the 1938 register (based on information on 1 June 1938, and in force from 15 October 1938) Stephen was still living at 15 Lyons Colliery with Mark and Elizabeth, and also with Isabella and with Mark (junior).

However in the 1939 register (based on information on 1 June 1939, and in force from 15 October 1939) Stephen was no longer resident at 15 Lyons Colliery.   It would seem likely therefore that he moved away between 1 June 1938 and 31 May 1939.

I can find neither of them listed in the 1939  General Register.

Were either of them in the services when the 1939 register was taken as they would not then be included in it.

My mother was disabled and my father partially sighted so neither were in the forces. Both were members of the St Johns Ambulance Brigade but I have contacted them and they have no details about them.

What addresses are showing for them on their marriage certificate.   Did Amelia come from Surrey, who were her parents.

Marriage certificate 24.12.1942 my fathers address 2 Spring Gardens East Molesey and my mother Belfairs Spencer road East Molesey.

My mother was born in Accrington Lancashire 271.1912 here parents Amelia Heap ( Latcham) and Croasdale Heap.

I do not know when my mother left Accrigton or where she lived prior to marriage

mackem115 would need to look at the original image to see whether a maiden name has been crossed out and replaced by a later married surname and confirm the exact date of birth not given by the results of a free search.

We can't do 1939 look-ups for people as that breaks the terms and conditions of use published by FindMyPast
