I am interested in finding out more about this gentleman's time as Head Gardener at Hartland Abbey- can anyone help?  Thank-you Elizabethh.

Have you contacted Hartland Abbey to see whether they have any records for that period?

According to this it is still owned by the same family and they do have a document collection.

Malmesbury- Bishop.
Gloucestershire-Bishop,Hicks,Higgs,Hill,Hooper,Hopkins,Pitcher,Robertson,Stinton,Terret,Woodruff.
Worcestershire-Stinton. 
Devon- Borrough or Burrow.
