Possible Canadian Passenger List for May Sutton - born 1884 aged 35 years (slightly out) arriving 24 March 1919 on the Metagama - travelled Liverpool to St Johns Newfoundland. Had never been in Canada before. Going to Ottawa.

I seem to have hit a brick wall in trying to find out when James & May emigrated to Canada.

Did you check freebmd for their marriage to help narrow down a date?  Married in England 1916

www.freebmd.org.uk

Ancestry tree quotes - Marriage June 1916 - Kingston Surrey, England
This marriage was contracted whilst still married to Lillian Sutton. It is therefore bigamous.

Amended: a closer look at the Attestation form shows that it is a copy so could be why the signatures look different so please disregard that part of my comments.....

The marriage record of the James Herbert who married Lillian has a different father listed than the one apparently connected to Stockport James. Father Thomas listed on the Attestation form appears to match father Thomas in the baptism record for Stockton James Herbert; James Herbert who married Lillian gives his father as James Herbert, although this could certainly be an error. Also, the signature on the above marriage record and the signature on the Attestation form appear to be different. So, I was wondering about the possibility there might be 2 James Herberts?
