FindMyPast has a marriage in 1835 for George Gardner Pashbee to Jane Bastion in Falmouth Cornwall,
The date was 17 Sep 1835.
There is also a birth for this man in 1810,he was baptized 11 Feb 1810 son of Sarah and Samuel Pashbee.
This fits the age of the chap buried in NZ

Cheers Janette

Janette, was he baptised in Falmouth?

Could this be Jane on the '41? The address is right.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. Between you,  you have answered all my queries and proved that the grave in Wellington is that of George Gardener Pashbee of Falmouth.

I see there is a photograph of his grave on Find A Grave.

Apparently between 1848 and 1851 HMSV Acheron  made a coastal survey of New Zealand, the first such survey since Captain Cook.

George's widow remarried in 1852. Perhaps she did not know of his death until the ship returned.
