It's strange isn't it? My mother in law had always thought that it was only James that was killed in action??
So frustrating to know the truth isn't it?

To add to the uncertainty about what's happened to George ::)

Hawick News and Border Chronicle 15 November 1918

Hawick Soldiers Who Have Made The Great Sacrifice:
Pte James Telfer, KOSB, son of William Telfer, Langhaugh Walls, Bonchester, age 24,

no sign of George on the list, and it's a big list!

It seems that we've all produced a lot of duplicate info, etc.

This shoud help:

I think John married a Celia KYLE she was born c1883 in Bombay, India, the daughter of Alexander and Annie KYLE, sister Lilian KYLE born c1897 in Hampshire.
John Telfer and Celia KYLE married Apr-Jun 1909 in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire.
Celia died 1954 in Crowborough, Sussex.

I thought  that Halliared said that John had survived Celia but can't see the ref now

Celia's probate definitely says that she was  the wife of John Telfer and probate granted to John Telfer, jobbing gardener - soyou should be looking for a death after May 1954.
