Why were Scholars sent to the Workhouse please ? The family member I'm researching went to Llanrwst Workhouse aged 14.

Scholar seems to be a generic term for someone 'still at school' in the censuses, so I imagine it might apply here, depending on the year. If other family members were there it would suggest family hardship of death of parents.
Some workhouses have records of admissions/discharges and deaths, depending if you strike lucky! The Denbighshire Record Office at Ruthin might be able to help. archives.denbighshire.gov.uk as well as

Thank you. My relative is mentioned in 1881 Census.

What can you tell me regarding Greenwich House Clock makers, Llanrwst please?

Only what I've just read! Llanrwst appears to be reknown for its clock and furniture making.

I guess the local history society or County Archives would know more.
