My initial thoughts are that they are not one and the same.
The Foulness records for other baptisms mention the child's age if inot a very young infant, the marriage of 1814 calls him a bachelor and not a minor, banns were read so a licence was not required and a father's permission was not mentioned. The same vicar performed both the baptism and marriage so possinly knew the family.
I would think finding his death is the best way to solve this.

Mark

Yes, I agree on all counts, Mark.  Thanks for the input.  14 does seem to young without mentioning age in the marriage record.

Should have mentioned Thirza married Henry Smith 1837.
In 1841 they are in Shopland Essex with son Henry age 2 and William 6 months.

Mahala married William Wesney (freebmd) 1837
In 1841 they are in Rochford Essex named spelled Westney with Henry Smith age 2 their nephew who was counted twice.

Oooh, thanks.  I had found Thirza's husband, but not Mahala's.

If he was born 1795 Jonathan he would have been 21 in 1814.

The daughters of Jonathan and Rebecca,  Thirza and Mahala both married 1837 in the Rochford registration district

ADDED
Rebecca who died Rochford age 73 n 1837 would have been born 1764, much too old.

Oh, I'm sorry.  That was a mistype.  She died at age 41, as you noted in another post.

It was Jonathan SIMSON who died at age 73, in 1836.  Would have been born about 1763.  Possibly Jonathan (1)'s father?

Possible reason for moving and references.
Essex Lent Assizes 1824 Jonathan Simson  -larcency--NOT guilty. (On ancestry)

There is no indication of age, where he was living regarding this entry, it just seemed coincidental.

Findmypast
2 December 1834 Essex Herald, Chelmsford, Samuel Raiyle found not guilty of stealing 2 shovels and a mattock from Jonathan Simson of Rochford.

28 November 1834 Essex Standard Colchester, William Hill acquitted of stealing 2 shovels and a mattock from Jonathan Simson of Rochford.

Just notes your Jonathan Simson was an Ag. Lab so the tools mentioned are some that he would need.

Oooh that is interesting - thanks!  You have been amazing - so much appreciated!

Why not Jonathan and John are different names, the same as Eliza and Elizabeth in the same family that comes up a lot.
I missed a daughter Sarah bap 13 March 1814 added to previous post.

Son William 1798 marries Sarah Potton 10 July 1817 at Foulness ( I have the children)

Son Nathanial marries Mary Wiskin of Easterwood 25 December 1824 at Rochford witnesses are Mary Simpson and Jacob Stevens
Nathanial dies age 23 buried 16 August 1827 at Rochford address Canewdon.
ESSEX RECORD OFFICE ref 129/13/2 --- Mary Simson + 2 children removed from Rochford to East Bergholt Suffolk dated 1828. I bet this is Nathanial's wife who had to ask for parish relief after he died. The children are William James bap 1 May 1825 and Mary Ann bap 30 August 1827 (of the late Nathanial Simpson and Mary)

Daughter Mary Simpson marries Jacob Stevens 26 December 1824 at Rochford witness Jonathan Simpson and William Topsfield all signed. Note witnesses for brother Nathanial.

Son Henry marries Elizabeth Marvin/Marvyn/Marven, have not found the wedding yet mothers maiden name from youngest children civil registration.
He, Henry also had an illegitimate son Joseph How? bap 23 January 1828 mother Elizabeth How at Foulness.

I'm missing John 1800 and Sarah 1814 either marriages or deaths.

The daughters Thirza and Mahalia both married in church you can see the records on SEAX
number 5 and 6 in the register for Rochford.

---------------------------------------------------
Sarah Simpson daughter of William Simpson (bap Sarah Bridges Simpson 19 September 1819 at Foulness) married at Rochford Joseph Gladwell 20 April 1841, the witness her cousin Mahalia Wesney and James Lawrence.

They had a daughter Sarah Bridget Gladwell bap 18 April 1841 daughter of Sarah Simpson at Rochford, notice they married 2 days later.
So mum should possibly be Sarah Bridget Simpson instead of Sarah Bridges Simpson?

Sarah Simpson age 77 buried Rochford 30 March 1850.
Possible widow of Jonathan Simpson nee  Sarah Abrams.
Your ref 1841 census she is with both Jonathan (1) and Jonathan (2).
