Valentine Leslie Douglas Uzielli. Killed in action 21/7/1917.
« on: Sunday 23 July 17 12:54 BST (UK) »
Lieutenant Uzielli enrolled in the Royal Field Artillery in 1915 and was killed in action in Belgium, 100 year ago last week. He is buried in small military cemetery, Coxyde, in Belgium.
I am unable to find out what section of the RFA he served in and in which battle he was engaged in when he was killed.
Any suggestions or assistance that would help me obtain more information about my cousin twice removed, would be very greatly appreciated.

CWGC details give his unit as 331 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, often rendered as CCCI Brigade.

Not happy with that, that brigade was supporting 60th Div in Palestine at that time, need to dig round a bit more.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

66/Div.

He served in B Bty. 331 Bde.
The war diary only states he was KIA on that day. No other info. Except he was near Nieuport Bains.

Public acknowledgement of jim 1's correct (as opposed to my incorrect!) translation of 331 as CCCXXXI rather than CCCI which is of course 301.  And to think I have O Level Latin!!

Thanks Jim
