1837 Online Lookup June 1869

Could sks look up June quarter 1869 Rotherham and see if there is a marriage for May Askew listed? (I have that date for a Richard James Shaw from freebmd, but there is one bride short)

Found Richard James Shaw, Rotherham, June qtr,vol 9c page 595, but cannot find a May Askew.

Thats the one I found, but no matching bride??

On my late grandad's marriage cert. his fathers name is James Henry Shaw, but on his birth certificate his name is Richard James Shaw!! My grandma says the right name is Richard James and he was known as Jim, but thats all she can remember. His mums full name may not have been May Askew, maybe that was just what she was known as (thats whats on his birth cert anyway).... Am getting nowhere on this side unfortunately,

What was your Grand fathers name have you found them all together in any census to show for certain his mother first name and place of birth?

My grandfather was called Frederick James Shaw, b.13/12/1920, if the 1911 census was out I could probably trace the right family through his siblings, I know he has a brother called Bill (William) and I'm going to ask my grandma for his other brothers and sisters names.

Without the marriage cert I'm stuck at the moment though  Dont know where to go from here....

Do you have the right year 1869 down in this message then for marriage?  Or should it have been for much later?

 if he wasn't born (your grandfather that is ) until 1920 then the couple must have had a lot of kids over teh previous 51 years

Didnt know whether this Richard James Shaw was the father or grandfather maybe. I think he did have a lot of children over a lot of years, but thought this maybe too early to be my grandad's father..... just looking for any Richard James marrying a May Askew really, or with a "May" on the censuses..... pot luck with this couple
