My father's family were from that area, he was Joseph Housely born on March 17th 1921, he was the youngest of 4 children, he had a sister Grace, brother Jim and brother Tom all older born to Joseph and Florence Housley nee Toplis.......My dad's parent's were I believe born in the 1880's in that area, but Florence may have come from Ilkeston and Swingate, Kimberley seems to feature at some point in their lives, info has always been very vague in this family history - I am interested in who my great grand parents are and their parent's etc as far back as I can get.........Do not know where to start to look, freereg will not let me in......libralady

Florence & Joseph married 1913 - see freebmd  www.freebmd.org.uk

Buying a copy of the 1913 marriage cert will give their ages and their respective fathers names and occupations

Have you looked for them on the 1901/1911 censuses to find their parents?

You can search the censuses for free on Family Search

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01egx/

Do you know which years Florence and Joseph died?

Thanks CaroleW - will try,
Joseph my granddad died around late 60's early 70's maybe I think at Strelley Notts and grandmother was taken to Cloverlands Nursing Home, Nuthall, Notts afterwards, I think she may have died in 1973/74 time......Grandad birthday in April and grandmother in November...
Grace was born in 1909 when Florence was single, Jim in 1915? - Tom in 1917........
I think my great grandfather may have been called Joseph Housley as well, born in Newthorpe area...Libralady

Their ages will be on their death registrations but there are several deaths in Notts for Florence & Joseph Housley so difficult to determine

There is a 1969 death for a Joseph b 7.4.1888 and a Florence in 1974 born 27.11.1885

I think you need to buy a copy of the 1913 marriage cert to get their fathers names.  I cannot find a Florence Toplis birth registration in the December qtr 1885/March qtr 1886 but there is one December qtr 1883

There is a Florence Housley death in 1935 - born 1886

Joseph is easier - only one birth

Joseph Housley June qtr 1888 Basford 7b 126  - GRO online search shows his mothers maiden name was Bradshaw
