« on: Sunday 23 July 17 22:49 BST (UK) »
Hi there. I was walking around an old local graveyard in Kilkenny City Ireland .when I noticed this old headstone . Sgt George Crimmins Royal Irish Fusiliers died 28 November 1893. Being a military man myself I am going start looking after this long forgotten soldier. If anyone has any information about him I would be very greatful. Thanks.

There is a record of a George Crimmins born in 1887 attending the Royal Hibernian Military School in Dublin in 1895 whose father at the time is given as also George Crimmins although the regimental connection is the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. No other military record pops up so perhaps best searched for in Irish records although whether it is worth it with such a tenuous connection??

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thanks for your help guys. I have discovered that the 2nd battalion royal Irish fusiliers were garrisioned in the local barracks at that time. His service number is not on his headstone which is unfortunate.
