Martha Bolton d1922 - looking for parents
« on: Monday 24 July 17 12:43 BST (UK) »
Reached a roadblock - any help gratefully received.  Martha was married to Samuel Smyth (Smith) and lived at Dullaghy on a farm.  They had children including my grandfather Alex Smyth.  Am unable to take either any further back so any assistance would be grateful received.

It really helps if you tell us all the information you already know.

GRONI have 4 Martha Smyths who died in 1922 (Belfast, Londonderry, Banbridge, Armagh) and no Martha Smiths in 1922.

1911 census shows Martha Smyth age 69 and married 45 years (c1866)-

However, closest I can find on Emerald Ancestors is 1870 Ballymoney district to Samuel ? . Going back to GRONI's database, it is 23 Feb.1870 Coleraine district (the difference in these 2 records indicate it was probably in Kilrea area) and groom's surname is Smyth. You can view the certificate now online (for a few credits) or wait until Irish Genealogy add the scanned image (free) to see bride's residence as well as her father's name & occupation and names of 2 witnesses.

Same family in 1901-

You can view the Valuation Revision Books online (free) to track the property from the printed version of Griffith's Valuation (mid 1800s) until c1930.
