I use MS Paint all the time - in fact my avatar was originally drawn in Paint.

There is a groundswell of opinion that Microsoft should release it into the public domain so that the code can be improved upon and it could be a stand alone programme. I hope so.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Good. And good to see a multinational conglomerate can react in a positive manner in a timely fashion.

Oh my, such a fright and than relief in the space of three posts.
I'd be lost without Paint.

;D ;D ;D ; my reaction too but like Gadget, I have used it only on the rare occasion.

I guess the thought behind the demise of the inclusion of Paint with the next generation of MS is that there are many very good free apps available through the App Store.

I use Paint frequently.  But I alternate between it and Photo Editor, which allows me to crop images and adjust the brightness and contrast.  Also to rotate them by angles other than a multiple of 90°, though the results are often less than satisfactory.

Paint is to be removed from the main code of Windows in future updates but it will then become available as a free download and standalone App from the MS store. (Their current project - Paint 3D - will remain part of Windows)
