Where is Bryne Goleu?
« on: Tuesday 25 July 17 14:54 BST (UK) »
Hi, can anyone help me find my grandads childhood home. The farmhouse was called Bryne Goleu he said it was near pistylls farm and ffynnon farm, he stated their was a row of cottages near by and a style. He would walk down the lane to the water pump each morning. Is it still there? I've tried Street maps etc but am unsure. Grandad is 94 so is a long time ago! Can anyone shed any light. Thanks

Any idea where in Wales? Cottages and a stile aren't really great clues unfortunately. Could the place be Bryn Goleu?

If you put Bryn Goleu, Cymau into Google maps, you can see the street.

it's about 5 miles south of Cymau.

Hi thanks for map as you can see ffynnon farm is there and pystyll farm, grandads was in between somewhere. It wasn't as big as them probably why it's not named on map but that's where it is somewhere.or was.

Going by the split view map (fantastic resource) there are 2 Methodist Chapels- the (lower) one on the right side of the road doesn't seem to have a graveyard attached but the (upper) one on the left side of the road does- possibly this is where your family are buried.

Hi, yes you are right, both his parents are buried their. Grandad said his house was up behind to the left of that chapel. He said today his cottage was split level, there was 2 cottages, his Bryn goleu, next door was called bryn derw and there was another cottage across the road, like a cluster of 3.
